The most popular Christmas gifts of 2026 — what the UK is buying

The 20 gifts UK retailers, charts and shoppers agree on for Christmas 2026 — from KPop Demon Hunters dolls and Pokémon at 30 to GTA VI and heated throws — plus what to buy now and what to save for Black Friday.

Every retailer publishes a “hot list” for Christmas, and most of them are part prediction, part marketing. So we did it the other way round. We read the 2026 toy lists from Argos, The Entertainer, Smyths, Hamleys, John Lewis and Amazon, the UK games charts, Which?'s gift guides, Boots' Christmas trends and TikTok Shop sales data, and kept only the gifts that turn up again and again.

Then we checked every one on Amazon UK. Prices and stock were checked on 5 November 2026 and change often, so check the price when you click through. Gift Huddle earns a small commission if you buy through these links, at no extra cost to you.

Tip: How we picked: each gift appears on at least one major UK retailer list or has hard sales or demand data behind it, and every product with reviews is rated 4.4 stars or higher on Amazon UK. The one exception is GTA VI, which isn't out yet.

The top 10 at a glance

  • KPop Demon Hunters singing dolls — this year's must-have doll, already selling out
  • Peppa Pig Ready, Pedal, Go Peppa — on the Argos, Entertainer and Hamleys lists
  • Pokémon 30th Celebration cards — the hardest gift to find this year
  • Mini Brands Really Works Vinyl Playset — a pocket-money favourite on two top-toy lists
  • LEGO Botanicals Rocking Plants — a cheap LEGO set for kids and adults alike
  • Grand Theft Auto VI — out on 19 November, and the biggest game launch in years
  • Nintendo Switch 2 — the family console, in its second Christmas
  • Sony WH-CH720N headphones — Which? members' most popular tech gift
  • Sol de Janeiro Jet Set — Which? members' most-loved beauty gift
  • A heated throw — the cosy gift with bills still on people's minds

The toys every list agrees on

Retailers rarely agree on toys, but this year a handful of products appear on list after list. These are the safest bets for children aged 3 to 10.

Popular pick

Mattel KPop Demon Hunters HUNTR/X Zoey “Golden” singing doll

On both the Argos and John Lewis top-toy lists. Rumi, the lead character, is already out of stock at John Lewis and Amazon, so don't wait on Zoey or Mira. 4.7 stars from 1,200+ ratings.

Popular pick

Peppa Pig Ready, Pedal, Go Peppa interactive figure and bike

One of very few toys on three retailer lists this year (Argos, The Entertainer and Hamleys). A safe pick for pre-schoolers. 4.7 stars from 2,700+ ratings.

Popular pick

ZURU Mini Brands Really Works Vinyl Playset

A tiny record player that actually plays, from the collectable Mini Brands range. The Entertainer's number two toy this year. 4.4 stars from 570+ ratings.

Popular pick

Mattel Toy Story 5 Running Woody

Toy Story 5 was the summer's big family film, and Woody features on the Argos, Smyths and Which? lists. 4.4 stars from 480+ ratings.

Popular pick

FurReal Gabby the Grow & Roar Tiger

The Entertainer calls it “a frequent sell-out since launching”, and it's on its top 10. The splurge toy of the list. 4.4 stars from 60 ratings.

Two smaller crazes are worth knowing about for stocking fillers: squishies, which Hamleys calls the season's hottest trend, and Clickeez clicky keyboard charms, which The Entertainer says are already selling out.

Pokémon turns 30

Pokémon is the one franchise that appears on four separate retailer lists this year, each picking a different product. The 30th Celebration trading cards are the hardest thing on this whole page to buy: one Suffolk toy shop reported more than 500 messages in a single week asking for them, and Pokémon Centers have sold boosters by lottery.

Popular pick

Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration Elite Trainer Box

Sold by Amazon at the normal price, but only by invitation: request one on the product page and Amazon emails you if you're picked. 4.9 stars from 700+ ratings.

Popular pick

LEGO Pokémon SMART Play: Trainer's Buggy Adventure with Squirtle

From the new LEGO Pokémon SMART Play range that Argos put in its top toys. Easier to find than the cards. 4.7 stars from 140+ ratings.

Tip: Watch out for resellers. On 5 November the 30th Celebration Booster Bundle was listed on Amazon UK at £83.74 by a third-party seller — more than three times its £24.99 retail price. If a Pokémon product isn't sold by Amazon or a big retailer, check the price against the RRP first.

LEGO for grown-ups (and Marvel fans)

People aged 12 and over bought nearly a third of all toys sold in the UK last year, according to the research firm Circana, and LEGO is a big part of that.

Popular pick

LEGO Botanicals Rocking Plants (11506)

On both The Entertainer's and Amazon's 2026 toy lists, and an easy gift for a teenager, a colleague or a gardener. 4.9 stars from 1,400+ ratings.

Popular pick

LEGO Marvel Avengers: Doomsday Quinjet (76347)

Avengers: Doomsday reaches UK cinemas in mid-December, and Hamleys has made Doctor Doom one of its two big themes this Christmas. 4.8 stars from 40 ratings.

Tech and gaming

Consoles cost more this year. Rising memory-chip prices pushed up official prices across the board in 2026: the PS5 is now £569.99 and the Switch 2's RRP rose to £419.99. That makes timing matter more than usual, so we've flagged which of these to buy now and which to save for Black Friday.

Popular pick

Grand Theft Auto VI, PS5 (code in a box)

Out on 19 November and the biggest game release in years. Note that Amazon's listing is a download code in a box, not a disc. Rated 18, so it's a gift for adults.

Popular pick

Nintendo Switch 2 console

The family console of the year, now in its second Christmas. It's at full price right now, so we'd wait to see what Black Friday brings. 4.6 stars from 790 ratings.

Apple AirPods Pro 3

Always near the top of Christmas lists. They dropped to £175 in the summer, so this is one to buy on Black Friday rather than today. 4.5 stars from 12,000+ ratings.

Amazon Kindle Paperwhite

A gift that gets used every day. Amazon's own devices are usually among the biggest Black Friday discounts, so hold off until then. 4.5 stars from 17,600+ ratings.

If you're buying a game for someone who already has a console, the UK charts are a good guide: EA Sports FC 27 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 have taken turns at number one through October.

Beauty: body care and fragrance beat make-up

Boots' Christmas sales data, shared with Which?, shows body creams, fragrance and skincare sets sell best as gifts, while make-up is a riskier choice. That matches the picks below.

Popular pick

Sol de Janeiro Jet Set travel shower kit

Which? members' most-loved beauty gift this year. Sold by Sol de Janeiro's own Amazon store. 4.7 stars from 18,000+ ratings.

Cosy and retro at home

Two themes run through this year's home gifts: staying warm, and nostalgia. John Lewis says its vinyl sales are up 98% on last year, and heated throws are selling out at some retailers.

Popular pick

Dreamland Hygge Days heated faux-fur throw

A heated throw costs pennies an hour to run compared with putting the heating on. Soft faux fur, with adjustable heat settings. 4.6 stars from 1,100+ ratings.

Buy now, or wait for Black Friday?

Black Friday is on 27 November this year and Cyber Monday on 30 November. Adobe expects average online discounts to climb from around 12% in early November to about 25% over that weekend. But the scarcest gifts won't be discounted at all — they'll just disappear.

  • Buy now: KPop Demon Hunters dolls, Pokémon cards and LEGO Pokémon, FurReal Gabby, heated throws and anything else on the toy lists. Several are already below their RRP.
  • Wait for Black Friday: the Switch 2, AirPods Pro 3, Kindle and other Amazon devices, and most mainstream headphones.
  • Pre-order: GTA VI, if it's on someone's list — it arrives on 19 November, before the sales start.

The trends behind the list

  • Spending more, buying less. VoucherCodes forecasts a record £93.76bn of UK Christmas spending in 2026, up 2.9% on last year — below inflation, so people are buying fewer things.
  • Practical beats novelty. 44% of people would rather get practical gifts this year, according to an IPA survey of 2,000 adults.
  • Black Friday is part of the plan. 58% plan to buy Christmas gifts in Black Friday deals, according to Mail Metro Media, and 34% are worried about affording Christmas.
  • Unwanted gifts are common. In a Which? survey about Christmas 2024, 21% received a present they didn't want, and nearly half of those who tried to return one had a problem.

Put together, that's a shopper who wants to get every gift right. The easiest way to do that is to ask — or better, to share a wishlist so nobody has to guess, and nobody buys the same thing twice. Our complete guide to gift lists explains how.

Questions people ask

What is the most popular toy for Christmas 2026? The KPop Demon Hunters singing dolls are the closest thing to a single must-have toy this year: they're on several retailer lists and the lead character, Rumi, has already sold out at John Lewis and Amazon. Pokémon is the most popular franchise overall.

When is Black Friday 2026 in the UK? Friday 27 November, with Cyber Monday on 30 November. Many retailers start their deals a week or more earlier.

When does GTA VI come out? Thursday 19 November 2026, on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. It's rated 18.

Is it too late to buy a beauty advent calendar? For most premium calendars, yes — several sold out before November. A gift set or a set of minis makes a good alternative.

Make sure they get the gift they actually want

Create a free Christmas wishlist, share it with family, and let people claim gifts so nothing gets bought twice. For the big ones — a Switch 2, an LED mask — friends can chip in together.
